Teaching...

Today we were reviewing some vocabulary for the end of level test and one of the words was volcano. We recently had two fire drills this week as well. So in the middle of my talking and going through a power point a student says...

(student)"Ya know how we keep having fire and earthquake drills Mrs. Hall"

(Me)"Yes"

(student) "Well we should have a volcano drill"

(me) "Thats a lovely idea but we don't have an active volcano in Utah to worry about"

(student) "Oh yes we right behind us"

(me) "Which is a fault not a volcano"

(student)"But if it moves magma is going to shoot out everywhere"

(me... in my head) "I have failed you as a teacher. Where have you been for the last two months when we talked about volcanoes and earthquakes? Are you kidding me!"

But then with some extra thought and reflection... I figure 1 out of 175 is a number I can live with. :)
