Field Trip

Almost a month ago I got to go to Kennecott Copper Mine with the geology department! It was awesome. We rode this little school bus all the way to the bottom of the mine. They let us use our rock hammers and take our own samples. Pretty much one of my most favorite field trips.Trick-or-Treating for a geologist but that isn't a costume, its real. The bus just made me laugh.

-Waterfall Canyon-

Over fall break My dad and I hiked Waterfall Canyon with the Halls. It was a perfect day for hiking. I really enjoyed the hike and had fun taking pictures. I also got some sweet geology pictures and rocks but don't worry I won't post them. Michelle almost accidentally touched a rattle snake. Since that is her biggest fear I was proud to be there and share the experience of her defeating her fears.

-We are the Champions-

We are intramural champions! All of us (except one) played volleyball at Western Wyoming Community College. It is super fun to get together and relive our glory days. And its funny to joke around about how slow we are now and out of shape.

Update... October 3-5

The first weekend in October we went to the USU vs BYU football game. It was pretty fun. I have never seen people cheer so hard for a team that is losing by 30 points with 10 seconds left. Utah State fans had some of the funniest signs I have ever read at a football game. It was very entertaining. On Saturday my parents came up and took us out to lunch (thank you mom and dad). Then I decided to use a Bed Bath and Beyond gift card that I had. I went to the store having no idea what I wanted. And I came home with this...and then I made these...
Matt decorated a ghost.
In between conference sessions on Sunday we went to see the leaves up Green Canyon. Nicole and some of her roommates came along.

Happy Birthdays...

Two weekends ago Matt went on a 14 mile run with Casey and Ryan. They had fun and want to do it again. My grandma got put in the hospital and we went and visited her. She is doing much better now. Mason, Matt, Nicole, and I went to a Real soccer game on Saturday. It was fun. Then on Sunday we all got together to celebrate Mandi and Carson's birthdays. We kept asking Carson what he wanted for his birthday and he kept telling us a watch. So Matt, Nicole, and I got him a spider-man watch. Mason, Me, Matt and Nicole getting rained on at the soccer game. Carson and his new bike.Carson got some new geotracks for his birthday. I think his brothers and sisters like them just as much as he does. Carson and his cake. Sorry Mandi I didn't get a picture with you and your cake.

...Football, Slip n' Slide, and Elk Meat...

Friday we went down to West Point and hung out with our families.Brinley and her Mrs. Potato Head Glasses
Brinley and Marci
My brother Brian got a little to intense during flag football. (his stitches are blue)

Saturday we made it back to Logan for the Utah State vs U of U football game. We met up with Michelle and Nate to watch the game. The score was 50 something to 10 so we decided to go do something fun.It looks better when there aren't any players on the field ha ha.

We decided to go ice blocking down Old Main hill (old main hill is a ginormous hill on campus. People go sledding or ice blocking down and usually someone gets hurt; what else is health insurance for right). When we got to the hill the sprinklers were on and people were already there with a huge SLIP N' SLIDE and soap. Mason, Matt, Casey, and Ryan all had a blast going down it. And no one hit the tree at the bottom of the slide so I would say it was a successful event. Robby and I decided not to go down the slide because it was cold and I really liked the capris I had on. However I do regret it and will be searching for one every weekend.Matt, Mason, Casey, and Ryan.
The person who helped Mason with the soap poured it on his head. Poor Mason had soap in his eyes the whole night, they were swollen and bright red.
This is Old Main hill. You can kind of see the slip n slide. It is the shinny thing right in the middle of the picture.

Sunday Matt and I were in charge of the ward linger longer after church (linger longer= meal + socializing after church). We decided that tacos would be an easy meal so we cooked up a bunch of meat and called it good. The Bishop told us to plan on around 70 people. During sacrament we started counting and when we reached 90 the memories of driving down the canyon at midnight to get more food for the ward camp out breakfast came flooding back to me. But this time is was Sunday and I am pretty sure you could get in a lot of trouble for charging the ward account on a Sunday. So Matt ran home and started cooking the only meat we had...elk hamburger. With a little seasoning and mixing in I don't think anyone could tell; except for maybe the different coloring. Overall we had a pretty fun weekend and didn't do any homework. (Don't worry mom school is good and just remember when you have been going to school as long as I have the difference between an A and a B doesn't change your GPA)

- Labor Day Weekend -

Labor Day weekend was really fun. We hung out with our families, ate some good food, and played a lot of volleyball. On Labor Day I think we played for four or five hours. It was really fun. I like hanging out with our families. It was nice to chill for a weekend and not have all these places to be or things to do. Not having school was also fun. :0)
Me and Brinleyvolleyball in the Hall's backyardOut to dinner with my family. Mom, Brinley, and Dad.Michelle and Carson. I thought this picture was kind of funny because Carson's head looks way bigger then Michelle's.My camera has this feature were it takes a whole bunch of pictures really fast and then plays them in slow motion. It is pretty entertaining. This is Jared jumping over the couch onto the love sac.

Mountain Biking @ Snowbasin

A couple of weekends ago Matt, Mason, and Casey went mountain biking at Snowbasin. They had fun and came home really dirty. Seriously Matt and Mason looked like they had these mustaches but it was really dirt. I went shopping with my mom and had a blast.Matt by some sweet rocksMasonCasey
This isn't a tan line...its dirt!

...Just Another Weekend...

On Friday we went to our friend Ben's wedding dinner/reception up at Snowbasin. That night we played some sand volleyball . On Saturday we took Carson and went swimming at my Grandpa and Grandma's pool. Then we played more sand volleyball. I think that Olympic beach volleyball has inspired our family and friends. I like it, I always have fun when we play. To end our Saturday Matt and Mason went mountain biking.During dinner I kept telling Matt and Mason "Look at that bird outside it just keeps flying there." Then we went outside and... it wasn't realCarson and Matt racing to "number six"

Bear Lake & Raspberry Days

Every year my family goes to Bear Lake for Raspberry days. My dad has a booth for his art work and we hang out at the beach with my aunt, uncles, and cousins. It is always a lot of fun. This year it rained a little but we still had a good time.

Naomi Peak

Last weekend our friends Aaron and Kenzie came up and we hiked to Naomi Peak. We made it to the top just in time for the sunset. It was awesome! Naomi peak is the highest point in the Bear River Range (the mountains that are along the east side of Cache Valley, the ones you drive through to go to Bear Lake) and the view from the top was way cool. It was dark when we hiked down so we used our headlamps. We were going to go camping after but all the campgrounds were full. So we ended up camping out at our house and having a BBQ. It was my kind of camping, I could shower and I slept in my bed. It was a fun weekend.

Matt's Mission President

Matt's mission president came home from Albania in July. He spoke on July 27th in Salt Lake so Matt, Joanne, and I went down to hear his talk. After all of the missionaries went to his house. It was nice to be able to put faces to names. I think most of Matt's mission was there. It was a good time.Matt, President Clayton, and CaseyMost of Matt's Mission

School is out for summer!

Today was my last day of class! I can now enjoy three weeks of summer until fall semester starts. I only had one class this summer but in my opinion that was one to many. I took my Statistics class and my professor was pretty cool so it wasn't that bad of a class (well my final grade may suggest something different). This fall is my last semester of classes and then I student teach in the spring. Yeah.
